Nocterra is free software that you can download, install, study, modify and maintain yourself. Help with Nocterra starts with the documentation and reference pages. These explain installation, configuration, page authoring, developer use, API functions, extensions and add-ons.

For technical questions, include the Nocterra version, PHP version, relevant configuration, server context and a small reproduction case where possible. Suspected security issues should be reported privately first, before publishing details elsewhere.
The documentation is intended to make it possible to install, use, understand and adapt Nocterra independently. Practical guidance can also be provided by people and organisations with suitable web knowledge. For many questions involving the creation, design and management of a website, general knowledge of HTML and CSS is sufficient, together with the Nocterra manual and configuration reference where needed. More specialised knowledge, such as PHP, web servers or hosting, only becomes relevant when the required functionality or technical problem calls for it.
Practical guidance may also be available within The Owl’s Nest under the Digital capability. This can include websites, software, hosting choices, accounts, data, configuration and other digital questions, with an emphasis on understanding what is happening and retaining as much control as possible over the systems being used.

The Nocterra GitHub repository is a public reference page. It is not the public support forum, issue tracker, package registry or primary development environment. Current public releases are published through the download page.
